There's Always Room For Firsts

First teaching job.
First salary.
First signed contract.
First day of school.
First blog.

I have been obsessing over all of these adorable teacher blogs for years now. As I made my way through my Masters program inching closer and closer to my goal of teaching, there were days when this reality felt forever far away. On those days I would enter the wonderful world of teaching blogs, and I would get lost in the beautiful classrooms, the creative projects, and the straight up mystery of  organizational techniques I didn't even knew existed. I'm an idea person, so having the opportunity to throw myself into the direct thought processes of current teachers was such a great gift for me.

If I were teaching first grade next year (and if there weren't already an incredibly awesome blogger out there by the same name), I could almost call this blog "A Year of Many Firsts."  It has already been such an exciting season of life, filled with so many incredible firsts, and the best thing is- the next year should be more of the same. The fun thing about dreams is if you work hard enough, they sometimes become a reality.

That brings me to my current reality. My current reality is what I've spent the past three years wishing and working for. I landed my dream job at the school I have spent the past three years itching to teach at in May. I will be teaching second grade on a team of superstars next year. (SUPERSTARS!) And I could not be more excited. Did I mention I'm excited? :)

I know how very lucky I am. While friends of mine from my grad program are in the chaos of cover letters, job applications, and interviews this summer, I am thankful to be planning for my classroom instead. I am trying not to take this time for granted. I figured a great way of diving in is to begin documenting the journey as it is, right here and now, before me.

Thank you for dropping by and wanting to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to learning alongside all of you!

xoxo,
M.
